MT261

The MT261 maize hybrid is a mid-early grain variety with high yield potential reaching 160 ц/ha, with actual yields ranging from 92.9–113.1 ц/ha. It is adapted for cultivation across various regions of Ukraine, including the Polissia, Forest Steppe, and Steppe, and is characterized by stability and plasticity under different climatic conditions. MT261 exhibits high stress tolerance, including drought and cold resistance, enabling stable yields even under adverse weather conditions and on soils with low agrochemical potential.

The plant shows medium growth in early vegetative stages, with a strong and well-branched root system that effectively supplies water and nutrients even during prolonged droughts. Plant height varies from 200 to 240 cm, with ear attachment height ranging from 90–120 cm. Stems are sturdy, the hybrid is not prone to lodging, and it also demonstrates good stem and leaf regenerative capacity. Grain is dent-shaped, with 1000-grain weight of 290–320 g, kernel rows per ear of 28–44, and ear rows of 16–18. The hybrid has high moisture shedding, facilitating harvesting.

Sowing is recommended during mid-to-early periods, depending on weather conditions, at a planting rate of 70–80 thousand plants per hectare. To achieve maximum yield, it is crucial to strictly follow cultivation technology and fertilizer application norms. The hybrid belongs to FAO group 250 and is primarily intended for grain production. MT261 demonstrates moderate resistance to stalk diseases, which also contributes to maintaining high grain quality.
