Maize IKV 62 SV

Technical profile of IKV 62 SV hybrid

Developed by the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Corn, IKV 62 SV is designed for intensive grain production focused on stable yields in regions with shorter vegetation periods. The technical potential of this hybrid is built on genetically fixed early maturity, allowing for harvest to take place during optimal weather windows.

Agronomic indicators and morphology

• Application: Grain-only. The hybrid is engineered for maximum ear fullness and high grain test weight.
• Biological cycle: Early maturity ensures a rapid transition through critical growth stages, which is essential to mitigate the risks associated with early autumn frosts.
• Hybrid type: Simple cross hybrid. Using a simple hybridization scheme ensures high crop uniformity, simplifying combine harvester settings and reducing grain losses during threshing.

The practical advantage of IKV 62 SV lies in its adaptability to diverse soil and climate conditions. The breeder has prioritized lodging resistance, which is vital for clean and efficient harvesting. High early vigor allows the crop to effectively compete with weeds during the initial stages of development, minimizing the need for early herbicide applications.

For agronomists, this hybrid serves as a cost-control tool: early maturity reduces post-harvest expenses related to grain drying, which directly impacts the profitability of the crop at the end of the season.
