The corn hybrid 'DN Khortytsia' is a mid-season variety with FAO 240, registered in the State Variety Register since 2016. The plant is tall, reaching 230-240 cm in height, and does not bush. The cylindrical ears, 21-23 cm long, have 14-16 rows of kernels with a red cob. The kernels are light yellow-orange, dent-shaped, with a 1000-kernel weight of 260-270 g and a grain yield of 83-84%. This hybrid exhibits excellent cold resistance, but its drought and heat tolerance are rated as moderate.
'DN Khortytsia' is characterized by high yield and low grain moisture at harvest, which facilitates effective storage and processing. The average yield in Ukraine is about 8.5 t/ha, with a potential of 13-13.5 t/ha. It is recommended for cultivation in Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polesie zones with varying plant densities depending on the region. However, the hybrid poorly withstands prolonged delays and high air temperatures, especially during ripening, limiting the possibility of harvesting in winter.
The 'Horvelia' variety is distinguished by rapid growth and resistance to pests, making it suitable for various climatic conditions. Despite moderate drought tolerance, it demonstrates stable productivity and can be used in diverse agroclimatic zones. High yield and adaptability make this hybrid an attractive choice for farmers seeking quality corn grain.
