Maize Codisco

French breeding in the field: Working with Codisko

When you step into a field planted with Codisko hybrid from Caussade Semences, the first thing you notice is the uniform emergence. This isn't the kind of crop where you have to run around with a ruler to calculate gaps; French breeding shows its consistency here. The corn demonstrates excellent early growth, which is critical for those who want to avoid the headache of weed control in the early stages.

Agronomy and maturity

With a maturity range of 90–110 days, Codisko fits perfectly into intensive crop rotations. In practice, this provides flexibility: if the summer turns out to be dry, the hybrid doesn't stall but pushes to complete its cycle faster. Use it for grain production as well as a reliable insurance crop. The harvest grain moisture is usually within an acceptable range, which significantly saves on drying costs — essentially the key factor for profitability in today’s market.

• Stress tolerance: The hybrid handles temperature fluctuations well and doesn't lose yield potential during short-term moisture deficits.
• Technological efficiency: The plant features a robust stalk that resists lodging even under strong winds. This is vital for combine operations: harvest losses are minimal, allowing the header to run low to the ground.
• Plant health: The canopy stays green longer than many competitors, ensuring grain fill even during extreme August heat.

Regarding crop maintenance, Codisko doesn't require any special fuss. A standard protection program and timely fertilization are enough for the hybrid to reach its full potential. Compared to more «finicky» foreign novelties, this Caussade Semences option feels like a reliable workhorse that forgives minor agronomic mistakes and provides consistent yields.
