Developed through a collaboration between Ooo Sp Ssk Kukuruza and the All-Russian Research Institute of Corn, the KORN 280 MV hybrid is a specialized solution for forage production. The primary engineering challenge addressed by breeders led by Y.V. Sotchenko was balancing high vegetative mass with intensive nutrient accumulation in the ear, which is critical for a high-quality silage ration.

Agronomic Strategy

With an FAO rating of 280, the hybrid falls into the mid-early maturity group, allowing for flexible harvest timing depending on moisture levels. The technological features of KORN 280 MV include:

• Energy density: The hybrid's genetics are optimized to balance fiber and starch ratios. In intensive farming, this ensures stable dry matter digestibility, directly impacting livestock milk production.
• Climate adaptability: Cooperation with Sudwestdeutsche Saatzucht & Kg has enabled the integration of resistance to stress factors typical of risky farming zones into the genotype, while maintaining yield potential under good agronomic conditions.
• Ear architecture: The hybrid develops a well-filled ear with high grain density, which ensures the necessary concentration of energy per ton of silage.

The practical value of KORN 280 MV lies in the predictability of the fermentation process. Due to the balanced chemical composition of both grain and stover, the silage is easier to preserve, minimizing nutrient losses during ensiling in bunkers or bags.
