Variety selected by the North Caucasus Regional Institute of Horticulture and Viticulture (Krasnodar). Obtained by crossing Melitopolskaya Chernaya and French Black varieties. Under state variety testing in the North Caucasus region since 2001. Breeders: E.M. Alekhina, T.G. Prychko.
Tree fast-growing, above average height, with medium density, spherical, spreading, well-leafed crown. One-year shoot with silver sheen. Buds of medium size, vegetative conical, generative oval. Leaf very large (20 x 10.5 cm), oval, dark green, apex pointed, base heart-shaped, serrated edge doubly-acute, blade flat, matte, lower surface with slight pubescence. Petiole of medium length and thickness, green with anthocyanin, glands two per petiole, more often on petiole, but also on leaf base. Flowers arranged in clusters of 2-3, large, with dish-shaped corolla, petals white, broadly oval, freely arranged, stamens long, pistil medium, calyx cup-shaped, sepals without serrations. Fruit set concentrated on bouquet branches and bases of previous year’s growth shoots.
Fruits medium size (average mass 6.5 g, maximum 7.5 g), round (2.0 x 2.5 x 2.1), shallow to medium depth and width of depression, apex rounded and slightly depressed. Cover color dark red, flesh dark red, juicy, medium density, juice dark red. Peduncle long, medium thickness, medium detachment force from fruit, dry detachment. Pit oval, easily separates from flesh. Fruits attractive (4.7 points), good taste (taste evaluation 4.6 points). Contains 14.9% dry matter, 13.3% sugars, 0.64% acids, 9.7 mg/100g ascorbic acid.
Variety belongs to late-blooming group, maturation period medium-late. Enters fruiting stage at age 5. Self-sterile. Cold resistance and resistance to spring frosts are sufficiently high, suffers significant freezing only under abnormal conditions. Resistant to main fungal diseases.
Variety has high productivity (130 t/ha), universal use, suitable for obtaining high-quality products for technological processing.
Advantages: high productivity and adaptability to stress factors.
Disadvantages: large tree size.
