Cabbage variety Lateman is a mid-late or mid-early maturing type, intended for summer and autumn cultivation. The plant forms a compact, upright or semi-upright rosette with dark green, elliptical leaves that are slightly wrinkled and have wavy edges. The heads are dense, round or round-oval in shape, white-yellow in color, fully covered by leaves, and possess excellent flavor. Head weight ranges from 0.4 to 2.0 kg, making this variety suitable for both fresh consumption and general culinary use. Maturation period for Lateman ranges from 96 to 130 days depending on growing conditions. Yield is high, reaching 7.0-8.0 kg per square meter under proper agronomic practices. The variety is resistant to adverse weather conditions and shows good resistance to head bacterial disease, though it is moderately susceptible to cabbage moth, fusarium wilt, and clubroot. For successful cultivation, seedlings or direct sowing of seeds into the soil are recommended, with optimal germination temperature of 16-18°C, followed by a 2-3°C drop and hardening off before transplanting. Lateman prefers light, fertile soils with adequate moisture to form high-quality heads. Recommended planting density is 4-5 plants per square meter. The variety was developed by the Dutch company BEJO ZADEN B.V. and approved for use in various regions of Russia, including the Northwestern, Central, and West Siberian regions. Due to its characteristics and disease resistance, Lateman is a reliable choice for farmers and gardeners aiming to obtain a stable, high-quality cabbage harvest.
