Bagira is a medicinal preparation based on extracts of belladonna (Atropa belladonna L.) and other plant components, designed for the treatment of respiratory system diseases in animals. The drug has anti-inflammatory, antitussive and antispasmodic action, regulates the production of bronchial mucus and promotes improved lung ventilation.
Indications for use include acute and chronic diseases of the respiratory system with cough and difficult to discharge sputum: laryngotracheitis, tracheobronchitis, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, rhinitis. The drug is also indicated in allergic conditions (allergic laryngitis, allergic bronchitis, bronchial asthma) and hypoxia in newborns.
The form of release is a solution for injections in glass vials with a volume of 10 and 100 ml. It is applied intramuscularly or subcutaneously: the single dose is 0.1 ml per 1 kg of body weight in dogs and cats (not less than 0.5 ml per animal), 5–8 ml for horses, 5 ml for cattle and pigs, 2.5 ml for goats, sheep, foals, calves, 1 ml for piglets. In acute cases, the drug is administered 1–2 times a day for 5–10 days; in chronic diseases – 2–3 times a week. The duration of treatment does not exceed one month, if necessary, repeated therapy is possible.
The solution composition includes extracts: Acidum formicicum, Apis mellifica, Atropa belladonna, Echinacea purpurea, Ferrum phosphoricum, Hepar sulfuris, Kalium bichromicum, Kalium stibyltartaricum, Lobelia inflata, Lycopodium clavatum, Psychotria ipecacuanha, Sambucus nigra, Vincetoxicum and excipients. The drug is stored in a closed package at a temperature of 0 to 30 °C, protected from light, the shelf life is three years.
