Aster Nika

Plant Architecture: Compactness and Morphology

The 'Nika' aster is a horticultural product developed by the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing, designed to create dense, aesthetically precise flower beds. With a plant height of 20–30 cm, it possesses genetically determined compactness, which eliminates the need for growth regulators.

Technical Specifications of the Inflorescence

The key feature of 'Nika' lies in its semi-spherical inflorescence morphology. With a diameter of 8–10 cm, the flower maintains significant petal density, providing resilience against wind and ensuring the plant retains its decorative appeal even after heavy rainfall. Unlike taller varieties, 'Nika' requires no staking or physical support structures.

Operational Use Cases

• Border Planting: Due to its low-growing habit, this variety forms a continuous decorative line that covers the ground effectively. The plants close ranks tightly, minimizing weed development in the root zone.
• Container Gardening: The 'Nika' root system is specifically adapted to limited substrate volumes. The plant displays an ideal balance between vegetative mass and inflorescence size, making it a prime choice for terrace and balcony containers.

This variety is the result of years of research led by breeders (notably G. V. Ostryakova), aimed at producing a stable crop adapted to specific climatic conditions, ensuring consistent and predictable flowering when proper horticultural practices are followed.
