The Astra variety MARINA is an attractive columnar plant with sturdy flower stems reaching a height of 55-60 cm. During the blooming period, up to 20 double dark-blue inflorescences with a diameter of 6-7 cm open simultaneously on one bush, giving the plant decorative expressiveness and making it an excellent choice for decorating garden plots.
For successful cultivation of the Astra MARINA, it is recommended to choose well-lit areas with fertile loam or loamy soil. The plant is characterized by high frost resistance and can withstand frosts down to -3-4 °C, which expands the possibilities of its cultivation in various climatic conditions. Asters are most often grown by the seedling method: seeds are sown in March-April, pricked out when the first pair of true leaves appears according to a 5x5 cm scheme, and seedlings are planted in open ground from mid-May to early June.
Seeding seeds directly into open ground in early spring or under winter with subsequent mulching with peat or sawdust to protect from cold is also possible. Thanks to its decorativeness and durability, the MARINA variety is widely used for cut flowers and arrangement of floral compositions, as well as for decorating garden plots.
