The almond variety «Vityaz» is distinguished by medium-early fruit ripening in the third decade of August and universal usage. Nuts are of medium size (around 2.4 g), uniform, elongated with a pointed tip, have a thin shell and a well-developed kernel. Inside, the flesh is white, dry, dense, with a sweet and oily taste, confirmed by a tasting score of 4.8 points.
The tree of the «Vityaz» variety is of small stature, fast-growing, with a rounded crown of medium density. The bark is rough, gray-brown, branches are straight and compactly located from the trunk. Leaves are medium, lanceolate, shiny, with a serrated edge. These characteristics ensure good drought resistance and heat load resistance.
The variety yield is high – up to 11.8 c/ha with full fruiting, and in unwatered conditions, about 6 kg of dry nuts per tree older than 15 years is achieved. Kernel output is 44.5%, two-kernel nuts – 8.2%. Fat content in the kernel is 53.4%. The tree is self-sterile and fruits annually, which makes it convenient for commercial cultivation. Susceptibility to monilial burn and clasterosporiosis is low (on a scale of 5 points – 1.0 and 1.1 respectively).
