The "Louisa" almond variety (Louiseania triloba) is a high-yielding and hardy variety that attracts gardeners with its decorative appeal and economic benefits. During the blooming period, usually in early May, the bushes are covered with lush pink or raspberry-colored blossoms reminiscent of cherry blossoms. Blooming lasts about two weeks, after which the leaves turn a bright yellow-red-orange hue, giving the tree an autumnal charm.
"Louisa" is distinguished by high yield: without irrigation and minimal treatment, up to 1 ton of nuts per hectare can be obtained. Each tree typically yields 5 to 10 kg of nuts, from which about 3 kg of kernels remain after shelling. Such yield levels make cultivation profitable with modest care costs – just a few fungicide treatments and periodic weed discing.
Bushes of the variety reach a height of approximately 3 meters, although their shape may vary depending on the climatic zone. Leaves retain their decorative quality until the end of autumn, and the variety is resistant to adverse conditions: it withstands drought and moderate frosts, making it suitable for a wide range of regions. Due to the combination of aesthetic qualities and high productivity, "Louisa" is often grown in gardens alongside other popular almond varieties, such as Georgia, Alex, and Borozana.
