Almond "Milas" – a high-yielding sweet almond variety with early maturity, bred at the Nikita Botanical Garden in the early 90s and successfully adapted to the climatic conditions of Ukraine. The tree is of medium height, reaching 3 to 4–5 meters, has a dense rounded crown and requires regular pruning and thinning to maintain shape and yield.
The fruits of the "Milas" almond variety are distinguished by their large size (mass 4–6 grams) and light brown, thin shell that easily separates from the kernel. The white kernel has a high yield – up to 56% pure almond, and the taste remains sweet and dense with a pleasant aroma. The variety is capable of bearing fruit as early as 3–4 years after planting, but the most effective harvest begins with the 8th year; under optimal conditions, an 8-year-old tree can produce about 5 kg of dry nuts.
"Milas" is distinguished by its frost resistance and disease resistance, which makes it suitable for cultivation not only in Crimea, but also in southern and western regions of the country. To ensure good pollination, it is recommended to use varieties Antik, Ayans, and Delon as pollinating partners. The tree prefers sunny areas with drained soils, and its care is simple: regular pruning, maintaining moisture during drought periods, and protection from pests will ensure a stable yield even in dry climate conditions.
