Galaretka is one of the Actinidia varieties, belonging to the Actinidiaceae family and representing a climbing vine with vertical support. The plant is characterized by its moisture-loving and sun-loving nature, as well as good resistance to spring frosts due to its subtropical origin. Successful cultivation requires providing a light, fertile soil with good drainage, regular watering during droughts, and maintaining vertical support in the form of trellises or netting.
Galaretka fruits have a distinctive flavor – sweet and sour, with tender flesh and edible skin. They are rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, and trace elements, making them beneficial for strengthening immunity. Fruit mass usually ranges from 8 to 10 grams, while yield can reach 5–10 kilograms per bush with proper care. Fruits are harvested from mid-August to mid-October when they are fully ripe.
Care for Galaretka includes regular pruning to stimulate active growth and formation of fruiting shoots. Pruning is carried out before the start of sap flow (beginning of the third decade of March); long vegetative shoots are cut back by 2/3 of their length, while short fruiting shoots are left unchanged. The plant is not prone to serious diseases and pests, but it may be vulnerable to cat gnawing; if necessary, protection with metal mesh or spraying with safe agents can be used. Galaretka is perfect for growing in garden beds and on cottage plots, where it adds a decorative element thanks to its bright fruits and beautiful vine structure.
