Privet virus

Once inside the plant, the virus interferes with the cellular machinery responsible for photosynthesis. This disruption leads to a reduction in chlorophyll production, causing characteristic discoloration.

The disease is classified as a mosaic or ring-spot virus, depending on the viral strain present. It remains within the sap and cellular tissues throughout the lifecycle of the host.
