Dirachma
Dirachma
Dirachma, particularly the species Dirachma socotrana, is a rare shrub endemic to the island of Socotra. It serves as the sole genus within its botanical family, making it a subject of high interest for conservationists and systematic botanists.

Dirachma
In its natural habitat, the plant thrives in rocky, limestone-rich soils. These substrates are characterized by low organic content and a highly alkaline pH, which the plant has successfully adapted to over evolutionary timescales.
The plant is highly resistant to extreme aridity and significant temperature fluctuations. It requires high light intensity and extreme soil drainage to prevent root rot, which is a common vulnerability for desert-adapted flora in cultivation.
There is no commercial agricultural production of Dirachma. Due to its status as a highly localized endemic, cultivation is restricted to specialized botanical research facilities focused on the preservation of rare plant species.
Successful propagation in controlled environments is technically challenging, as the seeds often require specific temperature cues and soil composition mimicking the unique environment of the Socotran plateau to germinate and develop properly.
