In its natural habitat, Athroisma is found in regions of East Africa and parts of Asia. It occurs in zones with distinct climatic seasonality, where soil types can range from loamy to stony substrates with good drainage.

The plant demonstrates high resistance to moisture deficiency, allowing it to survive in semi-arid climate conditions. The root system of the crop is sufficiently developed to effectively absorb water from deep soil layers during drought periods.

Light requirements for representatives of this genus are high. They prefer open, sunny areas where the intensity of insolation promotes the accumulation of biologically active substances in the aerial organs of the plant.

The temperature regime for successful development should be in the range of a moderately hot climate. Sharp temperature fluctuations and frosts are critical factors limiting the cultivation area of this crop in open ground.

The main threats to Athroisma in natural and cultivated conditions are fungal diseases of the root system. When moisture stagnates in the root zone, rot processes caused by soil pathogens develop rapidly.

Among pests, the greatest danger is posed by various species of aphids and thrips, which infest young leaves and inflorescences, sucking cellular sap and weakening the development of reproductive organs.

The plant is also susceptible to attacks by leaf-eating caterpillars, which can significantly reduce the photosynthetic activity of the crop in a short time due to damage to leaf blades.

In conditions of high air humidity, outbreaks of powdery mildew are possible. The development of a white coating on the leaves hinders normal plant respiration and requires timely application of preventive fungicide treatments.

To prevent the spread of pests, it is recommended to maintain spatial isolation and perform timely weeding of invasive plants that can act as primary reservoirs of infection.
