The plant requires a high-quality succulent potting mix that provides excellent drainage. Incorporating coarse sand, pumice, or expanded clay pebbles is essential to ensure that the root system remains aerated and dry during dormancy periods.
Sunlight is a critical factor in the plant's health. While it prefers full sun, in high-intensity climates, providing partial afternoon shade can prevent leaf scorching and maintain the structural integrity of the plant.
Temperature management should follow the seasonal cycles of its native habitat. It is hardy in mild climates but must be protected from frost, as the high water content in its tissues makes it susceptible to freezing damage.
