Garlic pulp

Beyond its repellent properties, garlic pulp exhibits significant antifungal activity by inhibiting the germination of fungal spores and the development of mycelium on treated plant surfaces. It creates a hostile environment that prevents pathogenic outbreaks on foliage and stems.

The mode of action is predominantly contact-based, requiring uniform spray application to achieve optimal coverage. The active ingredients interact with the physiological pathways of pathogens, effectively suppressing their ability to colonize and destroy plant tissues.

A key advantage of this substance is the lack of cross-resistance in pest populations, as the complex mixture of natural compounds is difficult for insects to adapt to. This makes it a reliable tool for rotation in integrated pest management (IPM) programs.

In addition to its protective function, garlic extract acts as a biostimulant, strengthening the plant's systemic acquired resistance (SAR). This allows crops to better tolerate biotic and abiotic stressors throughout the growing season.

The substance is widely used to control various agricultural pests, including aphids, spider mites, whiteflies, cabbage moths, and soil-borne insects such as onion maggots.

As an antifungal agent, it is effective against powdery mildew, downy mildew, late blight, various types of rusts, and leaf spot diseases common in vegetable and fruit cultivation.

Application rates generally range from 0.5 to 3 liters per hectare, depending on the formulation and the target density. Detailed instructions should always be consulted on the specific product label to ensure efficacy.

Treatments are most effective when applied preventively or at the very onset of pest pressure. Regular applications every 7 to 14 days are recommended during periods of high humidity or favorable conditions for disease development.

The efficacy of garlic-based products is highly dependent on environmental conditions, as rain can wash away the protective film, necessitating re-application. Avoid application during peak solar radiation to prevent leaf scorch and ensure maximum persistence of volatile compounds.

While considered safe, concentrated extracts require the use of personal protective equipment during mixing and application. Operators should avoid contact with eyes and skin, as concentrated sulfurous compounds can cause irritation.
