Pre-harvest intervals for phytopreparations are minimal, allowing applications during the fruit ripening period. However, potential changes in product taste should be considered if dosage levels are excessively high.
Compatibility testing is required when used in tank mixtures. It is recommended to combine the treatment with natural stickers to enhance the resistance of the preparation against wash-off due to rainfall.
Thorough coverage of the leaf surface is a key condition for efficacy. Even, fine-droplet spraying ensures maximum contact with the pest or pathogen, which is critical for contact-action biopreparations.
Restrictions
A primary limitation is the dependence of efficacy on weather conditions. High humidity and frequent rainfall can reduce the concentration of the preparation on the plant, necessitating re-treatment, which may not always be economically viable.
The preparation does not possess high toxicity to humans; however, when handling concentrated extracts, it is recommended to use basic personal protective equipment such as gloves and safety goggles to prevent mucous membrane irritation.
When storing the working solution, avoid direct sunlight, as active substances like sesquiterpene lactones are prone to photodegradation. The storage life of a prepared mixture in a cool, dark place should not exceed 24 hours.
It is not recommended to exceed the stated application rates, as this may lead to phytotoxicity in young crops. Sensitive plants may react to an excess of essential oils with stunted growth or marginal leaf burns.
To prevent the development of pest resistance, it is recommended to rotate burdock preparations with other bio-insecticides or fungicides that possess a different mechanism of action against pathogens or pests.
