Watermelon DSV NS 21

Focusing on Large Fruit Size and Yield Stability

The DSV NS 21 watermelon, developed by the Spanish breeder Novoagro Seeds S.L., is a strategic choice for farms focused on high-tonnage commodity production. Under intensive farming conditions, this hybrid demonstrates excellent plasticity, allowing for precise harvest logistics management.

Agronomic Performance and Cultivation Strategy

With a vegetation period of 70–80 days, this hybrid falls into the mid-early group. This growth dynamic is optimal for securing high-quality yields during the main season, when market demand favors fruits in the 10.0–15.0 kg range. The oval-round shape combined with deep red flesh makes it highly sought after for both fresh markets and retail chains.

• Seed Management: The small-seeded type simplifies precision seeding processes, ensuring uniform germination when soil temperature requirements are met.
• Weight Management: Achieving the specified fruit weight of 10–15 kg is attainable through a balanced fertility program with an emphasis on potassium fertilizers during the second half of the growth cycle.
• Transportability: The dense internal structure of the fruit ensures that the crop can be transported over long distances without compromising marketable quality.

Agronomists choose DSV NS 21 for its uniformity in ripening. This is critical for harvest mechanization: when the majority of the field reaches maturity within a tight window, labor costs are minimized, and the risk of over-ripening in the field is effectively mitigated.
