Dwarf spherical cherry 'Expectation' — this is a Soviet early-ripening variety developed by interspecific crossbreeding of cherry Samsonovka and sweet cherry Melitopolskaya. The tree is compact, not exceeding 2 meters in height, with a dense spherical crown, making it ideal for growing on small plots and in special containers. Due to its miniature size, the variety occupies minimal space and provides convenient care and harvesting.
The 'Expectation' fruits have an oval shape, dark red or ruby color with a glossy finish. The berries weigh 5-10 grams, juicy, with a tart-sweet flavor and a distinct caramel aftertaste. The harvest ripens at the end of June, allowing you to enjoy fresh berries as early as late spring. Despite its high taste quality, the fruits are not suitable for long-distance transportation.
The variety tolerates winter cold and drought well, but requires preventive fungicide treatment in early spring, as it is susceptible to fungal diseases. 'Expectation' is characterized by rapid fruiting — you can harvest berries as early as the third year after planting. This variety is an excellent choice for gardeners who value tasty, nutritious, and vitamin-rich berries on limited growing space.
