Tomato Volantis

Technological Potential of the Volantis Hybrid

The Volantis tomato from Monsanto is a high-tech breeding product designed for professional greenhouse cultivation. The indeterminate growth habit requires careful plant management, but its vigorous growth ensures intensive fruit development within 90-100 days from seedling transplantation.

Biological Defense and Immunity

A key advantage of this hybrid is its complex genetic resistance to pathogens that typically limit yields in greenhouse vegetable production:

• Phytopathological Protection: High resistance to Verticillium and Fusarium wilt prevents premature failure of the plant's vascular system.
• Viral Defense: Tolerance to Tobacco Mosaic Virus and various other viral infections minimizes the risk of losing marketability.
• Rot Resistance: The hybrid's genetic mechanisms effectively suppress fungal infections on both fruits and foliage.

Market Quality and Logistics

The plum-shaped fruit, weighing 80-100 grams, makes Volantis an ideal choice for the fresh market and pre-packaging segments. The dense structure of the epidermis and internal chambers ensures excellent transportability over long distances without deformation. A shelf life of 20-30 days significantly expands the sales window for producers, allowing for flexible logistics management without compromising product quality.
