Tomato Udavchik

A Reliable Classic of Ukrainian Breeding

The "Udavchyk" tomato is the result of extensive work by breeders at the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the NAAS. It was developed for producers seeking a balance between predictable yields and commercial viability. In the market segment of indeterminate tomatoes, this variety maintains its position due to its reliability and adaptability to the climatic conditions of Ukraine.

Agronomic Potential

The standout feature of this model is its plum-shaped fruit, which has become a standard for both whole-fruit canning and the fresh market. With a maturation period of 100-120 days, the variety performs exceptionally well when grown in plastic greenhouses or in open fields using trellis systems.

• Plant Type: Indeterminate, requiring consistent staking and pruning, which allows for efficient vertical space management.
• Productivity: The variety demonstrates a high commercial yield, ranging from 70 to 100 tons per hectare under proper agronomic conditions.
• Fruit Quality: The red tomatoes feature firm flesh, 2-3 chambers, and excellent transportability, making them a preferred choice among wholesale buyers.

"Udavchyk" remains a sought-after solution for farms focusing on the classic "plum" segment. Its genetics ensure stable fruit set even during periods of temperature fluctuation, a fact backed by years of field experience across various regions of the country.
