Tomato Tucan

Technical Profile of the 'Tukan' Tomato

Developed by the Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Breeding and Seed Production (VNIISSOK), the 'Tukan' variety is engineered for rapid crop turnaround in temperate climates. The primary agronomic advantage is its shortened growth cycle of up to 90 days, which significantly mitigates the risk of late-season blight outbreaks.

Product Morphology and Technical Specifications

• Fruit Mass: Stable weight ranging from 60 to 100 grams, making the fruit perfectly suited for whole-fruit processing and canning.
• Geometry: The flat fruit shape ensures uniform heat distribution during ripening and mechanical resistance during transport.
• Internal Structure: With 3–4 locular cavities, the tomato possesses a dense flesh texture. This is a crucial technical feature: the fruits maintain their structural integrity during thermal processing, preventing them from losing shape.

The practical value of 'Tukan' lies in its predictability. Breeders have optimized the balance of sugars and acids, characteristic of high-quality field-grown varieties. The compact nature of the plant simplifies maintenance, ensuring superior aeration and reducing the incidence of fungal rot. Selecting this seed material is a robust choice for growers looking to achieve consistent yields and high-grade produce with optimized production inputs.
