Tomato Dexter

Focusing on Yield and Marketability: The Potential of "Dexter" Indeterminate Tomato

The Italian breeding expertise from Isi Sementi S.P.A is perfectly represented in the indeterminate hybrid "Dexter," designed for farmers prioritizing a balance between high yields and premium market appearance. This variety has established a solid reputation in the pink-fruited tomato segment for the fresh market.

Cultivation Strategy and Operational Tasks

"Dexter" requires precise canopy management. As an indeterminate plant, the primary approach involves single-stem pruning with essential staking and suckering in protected environments. This strategy directs plant vigor into the development of large, heavy fruits weighing 200g or more.

• Maturity Timeline: With a 120–130 day cycle, this mid-to-late season hybrid is ideal for second-crop cycles or extended cultivation programs.
• Quality Control: The pink color and flat-round shape are the hallmarks of "Dexter." The firm skin minimizes cracking risks during transit, ensuring the product meets strict supermarket logistics standards.
• Yield Potential: When following Isi Sementi S.P.A’s intensive nutrient protocols, growers can achieve yields exceeding 190 tons per hectare.

"Dexter" is best suited for commercial operations targeting the premium market segment. The hybrid is sensitive to irrigation management; inconsistent water supply can impact fruit size, making drip irrigation and precision fertigation systems essential requirements for unlocking the full genetic potential of Isi Sementi seeds.
