Tomato CALDINO

Optimized for Logistics and Shelf Life

The Caldino tomato hybrid by Rijk Zwaan is designed for growers who prioritize supply chain efficiency and long-distance distribution. With its classic plum shape and robust exterior, this hybrid is engineered to withstand the rigors of mechanical handling and transport, significantly reducing post-harvest waste at the retail level.

Operational Advantages in Commercial Farming

• Extended Market Window: With a storage potential exceeding 30 days, Caldino gives producers the flexibility to manage inventory and respond to market price fluctuations without risking product quality.
• Disease Resistance: The hybrid features a comprehensive resistance package, including Verticillium wilt, Tomato mosaic virus, Fusarium wilt, and Leaf mold (Cladosporium). This reliability reduces the need for heavy pesticide interventions, making it a predictable choice for large-scale greenhouse operations.

Caldino’s uniform red fruit is ideal for automated sorting and packing lines. By focusing on consistent fruit density and longevity, Rijk Zwaan has created a variety that meets the stringent quality standards of modern supermarkets. It is a practical solution for producers who need high-yield, high-durability genetics to maintain a steady, premium-quality supply throughout the season.
