Black Cherry

Black Cherry — an early-maturing cherry tomato variety, suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under cover. The plant is indeterminate, with unlimited growth, reaching a height of 150 to 200 cm depending on growing conditions. Plants require mandatory staking and training into one or two stems, with regular removal of suckers and old lower leaves to ensure good air circulation and fruit development. The vegetative period is approximately 90-112 days, allowing for harvest within relatively short timeframes. The fruits of this variety have a round shape and are characterized by their original dark, brownish or reddish color with a distinctive hue for the variety. Average fruit weight ranges from 15 to 20 grams. They possess a dessert-like, very sweet flavor with a pleasant aroma, making them popular for both fresh consumption and canning. The tomatoes are juicy, low-calorie, and rich in beneficial substances. Thanks to their dense skin, the fruits retain their quality for up to a month, which distinguishes them from ordinary tomatoes. For successful cultivation of Black Cherry, warm and light-loving conditions with an optimal temperature of around 20-23ºC are required. Plants respond well to fertilization and soil loosening. Seed sowing is recommended at a depth of 1.5-2 cm, with a planting density of 3-5 plants per square meter. Seedlings are thinned in the stage of one or two true leaves, and transplanted into open ground or a greenhouse at the end of April to early May. To ensure fruiting, lower leaves are removed after the appearance of the 5th flower cluster, and after the 8th-10th cluster, the main stem is pinched off, leaving 2 leaves above the last cluster. Yield of this variety reaches up to 10 kg per square meter, making it an excellent choice for those who appreciate flavorful and decorative tomatoes.
