BABUSHKIN POCELUY

The tomato variety BABUSHKIN POCELUY is an early-maturing determinate variety developed by the agrofirm 'Semya Altaya'. Plants are medium-height, reaching 50-70 cm in open ground and up to 100 cm in greenhouses. The fruiting period is prolonged, allowing harvest throughout the season. Suitable for cultivation in both open ground and greenhouse conditions, it requires staking and plant shaping, which enhances fruit quality and quantity. The BABUSHKIN POCELUY tomato fruits are large, flat-round, slightly ribbed, and bright yellow. Average fruit weight is 200-350 g, with individual fruits reaching 500-600 g. The flesh is juicy, fleshy, and sweet, making this variety especially appealing for fresh consumption, as well as for preparing delicate salads and juices. Fruits from the last clusters are excellent for pickling and canning, distinguished by superior flavor compared to traditional red tomatoes. Cultivation begins with sowing seeds in March into slightly compacted soil, followed by mulching with peat or topsoil. For germination, seeds are watered with warm water and covered with plastic, maintaining a temperature around 25°C. After seedlings emerge, the plastic is removed, and seedlings are placed in a bright location with gradual temperature increase to 20-22°C. At the 8-9 true leaf stage, seedlings are transplanted into the ground at 40x40 cm spacing. It is recommended to shape plants into 3-4 stems or leave unshaped, and during fruit set, potassium fertilizers should be applied to increase yield, which reaches 4.2 kg per square meter.
