Tomato AKOYA

Working with the "Akoya" tomato

When working with determinate hybrids from Axia Vegetable Seeds, you immediately feel the Dutch approach to breeding: predictable results and high performance. "Akoya" is the type of hybrid that forgives many agricultural mistakes while remaining highly productive.

Care and phytosanitary control

The main headache for any tomato grower is late blight. Even with classic humidity fluctuations in the middle of the season, the plant performs well. This significantly reduces the cost of fungicide treatments: fewer chemicals mean a cleaner product.

Harvest and commercial appearance

A fruit weight of up to 20 grams makes this tomato an ideal solution for the cherry segment. Harvesting is easy, and the fruits are not prone to cracking during ripening, which is important for minimizing losses during sorting. The color palette — a combination of intense red and bright orange — provides an excellent visual effect when packed into trays. The product looks appetizing and has excellent shelf life, which allows for efficient logistics.

Agronomist's verdict

For a farmer, "Akoya" is a straightforward tool. The plant is determinate, compact, and does not require the endless pruning typical of indeterminate varieties. If you are looking for stable genetics from Axia NL B.V. that won't surprise you with rot or erratic ripening, this hybrid is your choice. Minimal maintenance costs combined with high market appeal make it a sound investment for the season.
