Cucumber Rubato

Professional Greenhouse Performance

Rubato by Rijk Zwaan is an indeterminate parthenocarpic hybrid specifically engineered for high-tech and traditional greenhouse environments. Designed for growers who prioritize predictability, this variety excels in indoor conditions, providing a steady, high-quality yield without the need for insect pollination. It is an ideal solution for early-season cycles where reliability is paramount.

Agronomic Efficiency and Health

The variety reaches maturity within 40–45 days, allowing for efficient rotation planning throughout the season. One of the key operational advantages of Rubato is its robust genetic resistance package, which significantly lowers the risk of crop failure and reduces the need for frequent pesticide applications:

• High resistance to Cladosporium cucumerinum (scab).
• Strong tolerance to powdery mildew.
• High resistance to various plant viral mosaics.

The plant habit is well-balanced, making routine maintenance, pruning, and harvesting straightforward tasks for greenhouse staff.

Market-Ready Produce

The fruits of Rubato are prized for their consistent, premium appearance. They feature a deep dark-green color and a delicate fine-wart texture. Measuring 12–14 cm in length and weighing 120–140 grams, these cucumbers possess an ideal 3.3–3.5 length-to-thickness ratio. Beyond aesthetics, the firm texture of the flesh ensures superior shelf life and resilience during shipping. This makes Rubato an excellent candidate for wholesale distribution and supermarket retail chains, where fruit integrity and long-distance transportability are essential for maintaining profitability.
