Cucumber Rodnichok is a medium-early, high-yielding hybrid of bee-pollinated cucumber, intended for cultivation in open ground. The vegetation period is approximately 48-55 days, allowing harvest within one and a half to two months after emergence of seedlings. The plant is tall, with a main vine length up to 3 meters and moderate branching, resistant to heat, unfavorable weather conditions, and most cucumber viruses and diseases, including powdery mildew. Rodnichok responds well to watering and feeding, contributing to stable high yields — up to 20 kg of fruit per plant, and up to 23 kg per square meter when grown in greenhouses. Cucumber Rodnichok fruits are cylindrical, 9-10 cm long, and weigh 90-110 grams. They have an attractive market appearance: dark green with white or light-green stripes, small bumps, and black spines. The skin is sufficiently thick, ensuring good storage life and transportability over long distances without quality loss. The flesh is crisp, juicy, and free of bitterness, making this variety suitable for fresh consumption, pickling, and processing. Under irregular watering, the fruits retain a sweet and pleasant taste. A distinctive feature of this variety is the predominance of female flowers and the simultaneous formation of 2-3 fruits per node, which contributes to increased yield. Rodnichok seeds germinate well and uniformly, and can be sown either as seedlings or directly into the soil, at a sowing rate of 0.2-0.5 g per square meter. Due to its qualities and resistance to adverse conditions, cucumber Rodnichok is widely popular among gardeners and dacha owners, remaining one of the most sought-after varieties of Ukrainian selection.
