Sunflower VN 2502 B is a high-quality hybrid developed by the All-Ukrainian Scientific Institute of Selection, adapted to various climatic zones of Ukraine, including the Polesie, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe. This hybrid is characterized by high yield, reaching up to 58 centners per hectare, and an average vegetation period of about 115 days. The plant stem height ranges from 160 to 180 cm, ensuring good stability and ease of harvest.
One of the key features of VN 2502 B is its high-oleic composition, meaning it contains a significant amount of monounsaturated fatty acid oleic acid Omega-9 (up to 95%), as well as low levels of polyunsaturated linoleic acid Omega-6. Thanks to this, oil from its seeds exhibits high thermal stability, contains natural antioxidants including vitamin E, and releases minimal amounts of harmful trans fats during frying or processing. Additionally, this sunflower has a storage life four times longer than conventional varieties, making it advantageous for long-term storage and transportation.
Hybrid VN 2502 B also exhibits resistance to herbicides based on imazamox and imazapir, facilitating weed control and reducing agronomic costs. It shows tolerance to several diseases, including phomopsis, white mold, powdery mildew, and rust, enhancing the reliability and stability of the yield. Drought resistance makes this sunflower particularly suitable for cultivation in arid regions, and its potential use as raw material for biodiesel expands its application areas.
