Sunflower Olmedo

Stable Performance in Variable Conditions

Danish selection from Maribo Seed brings a pragmatic approach to the agricultural sector, and the sunflower hybrid "Olmedo" is a prime example. Unlike ultra-intensive hybrids that require a perfect agricultural background, "Olmedo" is focused on predictable results in temperate climates.

Key Advantages

• Oil Content: A high oil content of 50-55% makes this hybrid profitable for processors and allows farmers to expect premium prices when selling the harvest.
• Phytosanitary Shield: Resistance to downy mildew (peronosporosis), phomopsis, and phoma reduces the burden of fungicide application, which is critical in regions with high humidity or high disease pressure.
• Managed Vegetation: A maturation period of 100-110 days classifies "Olmedo" as a medium-early hybrid. This allows the farmer to flexibly plan sowing and harvesting dates, avoiding the risk of early autumn frosts.

Developmental Features

The medium-height plant (140-150 cm) has a balanced architecture. The medium-sized head ensures uniform seed filling without excessive stress on the stalk. Such plant height significantly simplifies the combining process, minimizing harvest losses during header operation.

Who is "Olmedo" for?

This hybrid is an optimal choice for farms focused on intensive agriculture that want to mitigate risks related to common fungal diseases. Due to its plasticity, "Olmedo" shows solid performance on various soil types when basic agronomic practices are followed. The Maribo Seed branding serves as a guarantee of breeding control and seed quality, which is confirmed by high germination rates and field uniformity.
