Genetic Protection and Yield Potential of NS Div

The IFVCNS (Novi Sad) breeding program for the NS Div hybrid focuses on the balance between vigorous growth and stress tolerance. This sunflower hybrid demonstrates high adaptability, which is critical in unstable climatic conditions. The plant height of 150–160 cm provides optimal biomass, while maintaining excellent lodging resistance, facilitating harvesting operations and minimizing field losses.

Phytosanitary Barrier

A hallmark of NS Div is its genetic shield against the most dangerous pathogens. Breeders at the Novi Sad Institute have concentrated on building a robust immune system:

• Resistance to fungal infections: The hybrid shows high tolerance to rust, phomopsis, and phoma. This allows farmers to optimize fungicide applications, reducing overall input costs per hectare.
• Pest protection: Special attention has been paid to resistance against the sunflower moth. The plant's genetic mechanisms allow it to effectively withstand this pest, preserving the integrity of the head and the commercial quality of the seeds.

Seed Quality and Operational Economics

NS Div is classified as a mid-early hybrid with a vegetation period of 100–110 days. This cycle allows for efficient crop rotation, clearing fields for subsequent crops in a timely manner. The seeds are visually characterized by their large size and deep black color, indicating high-quality kernel development.

The hybrid's technological parameters confirm its profitability: oil content ranges from 45% to 50%. This makes NS Div a preferred raw material for processing plants looking for high-quality oil output. The stability of these metrics, even under conditions of moderate moisture stress, is a result of the Serbian breeding school's commitment to maximizing yield potential in real-world field conditions.
