Sunflower MAG 20 A

Early Maturity and High Oil Content

In the segment of Russian sunflower genetics, the "MAG 20 A" hybrid has carved out a niche as an ultra-early maturing variety. Developed by breeder Galina Aleksandrovna Makarenko, this cultivar is designed specifically for regions with short frost-free periods or for agricultural cycles requiring quick harvest to allow for double cropping.

Agronomic Profile

The primary advantage of "MAG 20 A" is its 90–100 day growing season. This rapid growth cycle allows the crop to avoid the heat stress and droughts often encountered during mid-summer, which can drastically reduce the yield of late-maturing varieties. Despite its fast-track maturity, the hybrid maintains impressive oil content, ranging between 50% and 55%, ensuring competitive performance in the processing market.

• Crop: Sunflower hybrid/variety.
• Origin: Russia (Breeder: G. A. Makarenko).
• Vegetation period: 90–100 days.
• Oil content: 50–55%.

For growers focusing on rotation efficiency, "MAG 20 A" serves as a practical solution. By freeing up fields earlier than standard hybrids, it enables the timely planting of winter crops. The hybrid reflects the adaptive nature of locally developed varieties, balancing reliable yield potential with the technical requirements of modern intensive farming.
