Sunflower FD18E41

Genetic resilience as the foundation of FD18E41 performance

The breeding partnership between VNIS and the Romanian institute INCDA Fundulea has brought the FD18E41 sunflower hybrid to the market, a result of dedicated research into crop adaptability. Unlike many mid-maturing competitors, this hybrid shows exceptional resistance to various races of powdery mildew. For agronomists, this translates to a predictable phytosanitary environment in the field and a reduced need for additional fungicide treatments against this specific pathogen.

Morphological traits and potential

Visually, FD18E41 seeds are easy to identify: the narrow egg-like shape and deep black color indicate high shell density. The medium size of the achenes allows for even distribution during sowing, which is crucial for uniform emergence. The large, slightly convex head efficiently accumulates nutrients, ensuring stable seed filling even under conditions of variable moisture.

Who is this hybrid for?

• Farms operating in areas with high risk of pathogen pressure (powdery mildew).
• Producers looking for genetics with a strong international background, specifically adapted to Ukrainian soils.
• Farmers seeking high-tech sunflowers with excellent germination energy.

The main strength of FD18E41 is its genetic "armor." As with most high-yield hybrids, its performance depends on proper crop rotation and optimal sowing timing to fully unlock the head's potential. In intensive farming systems, this VNIS hybrid delivers top-tier oil content, providing stable economic margins for the producer.
