NS Orfej hybrid sunflower is a mid-season high-oleic variety developed by the Serbian breeding company NS Seme. It is characterized by high oleic acid content — from 88 to 92% — making it especially valuable for producing high-quality oil. The vegetation period is 106–110 days, and plant height reaches 150–170 cm. The sunflower head is thin and convex, with a diameter of 21–25 cm, facilitating harvest. Oil content in the seeds ranges from 47–49%, and protein content is 16–18%. NS Orfej has high yield potential up to 48 c/ha (4.8 t/ha), achieved through conventional intensive cultivation. The hybrid is highly drought-resistant and stable, allowing successful cultivation in various climatic conditions, particularly in the steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine. It is resistant to seed shattering, reducing losses during harvest, and exhibits very high resistance to rot and diseases, as well as to five races of downy mildew (Peronospora), ensuring reliable and safe harvests. NS Orfej seeds are treated with fungicides to protect against fungal diseases. The hybrid is suitable for conventional cultivation and may also be used in organic farming. For individuals, safe payment upon receipt is available, while for farms, payment is made via contract with VAT. Due to its unique characteristics and adaptability, NS Orfej is one of the leading high-oleic sunflower hybrids on the market.
