AA AELITA

Silybum marianum variety 'AA Aelita' is an agricultural crop grown primarily for seed production. The variety is distinguished by high disease resistance and good yield under various climatic conditions, making it in demand for both open ground and greenhouse cultivation. The vegetative period lasts 90–120 days, and the plant reaches a height of 1–1.5 m. Seeds are harvested from August to October; after harvesting, roots and leaves can be prepared in autumn.

Silybum marianum seeds contain essential oils and a unique complex of silymarin – an active substance known for its hepatoprotective properties. Thanks to this, the plant is widely used in folk medicine and pharmacy for the prevention and treatment of liver and gallbladder diseases. Moreover, silybum has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antispasmodic effects, and is also capable of improving metabolic processes in hepatocytes, increasing the resistance of liver cells to damage.

In the application of silybum, both internal and external methods can be distinguished. Internally, the plant is often prepared as herbal tea from seeds or leaves; in this case, its action manifests in improved digestion, reduced inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, and support of liver function. Externally, silybum seed oil is used to treat skin injuries, burns, and also as a remedy to alleviate symptoms of hemorrhoids and other mucous membrane diseases. In general, 'AA Aelita' represents a universal natural remedy with a wide range of beneficial properties.
