Rose SCH 83577

The culinary potential of the SKH 83577 rose

Dutch breeding from Piet Schreurs Holding has long been a benchmark in the floral industry, but the SKH 83577 variety expands the typical boundaries of the crop's use. Unlike purely decorative species, this hybrid was developed with food-grade applications in mind. Modern farms choose this variety to create niche products: from the production of rose jam and fragrant teas to its use in fine dining as organic decor or a base for culinary essences.

Specifics of cultivation and utilization

• Quality Control: As an original Schreurs product, the hybrid requires strict adherence to temperature and daylight regimes, which is critical for the accumulation of essential oils that define the petals' flavor and aromatic properties.
• Agricultural Features: The variety demonstrates predictable yields in protected ground. Utilizing professional substrates and fertigation techniques recommended for Dutch breeding allows for achieving maximum concentrations of beneficial compounds in the biomass.
• Harvesting: Unlike cut-flower varieties, the emphasis here is not on the stem length, but on the bud opening stage, where the organoleptic properties of the flower reach their peak.

Integrating SKH 83577 into greenhouse crop rotation opens doors for business diversification. Farmers working with this variety gain access to the HoReCa segment, where demand for high-quality, certified rose petal raw materials is steadily growing. The originator (Petrus Nicolaas Johannes Schreurs) built potential into the variety's genetics that allows for efficient scaling of food production while minimizing post-harvest losses.
