Rapeseed is an annual herbaceous plant belonging to the Brassicaceae family, widely used in agriculture for oil production, animal feed, and green mass. In Ukraine, rapeseed is gaining popularity due to its high profitability and ability to provide stable yields even under adverse climatic conditions. There are two main types of rapeseed — spring and winter — which differ in cold and drought resistance, allowing them to be grown in various regions of the country.
Rapeseed seeds are available in diverse hybrids and varieties such as Lamber, Aurelia, Hector, Major Premium, Jordan, Marcus, Forest Imi, as well as Mercedes, Trumpf, Sherpa, Kuga, AtoRa, Abacus, Shrek, Rohan, and Xenon. These hybrids are distinguished by high yield, cold resistance, drought tolerance, and are adapted to different sowing times — both early and late. They have undergone trials on experimental fields across all soil-climate zones of Ukraine, confirming their reliability and effectiveness.
Rapeseed is valued for its ability to grow even under minimal moisture and adverse conditions, making it a profitable choice for farmers. Rapeseed seeds may vary in color — yellow, black, and dark — and are classified by purpose into technical, feed, and food varieties. Due to its resistance to pests and diseases, as well as frost tolerance, rapeseed is a promising crop for cultivation in Ukraine, ensuring high yields and stable income.
