Originator — Institute of Plant Growing named after V. Ya. Yuryev, NAAN.
Year of inclusion in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine — 2011, recommended for cultivation in steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine.
Trial characteristics. Variety of erythrospermum. Spike with strong waxy coating, white at maturity, cylindrical in shape, 8-9 cm long, medium density. Spikelet sheath lanceolate in shape, spikelet sheath tooth long, moderately curved. Spikelet sheath shoulder sloped, medium in size. Grain red, oval in shape with broad hairy awn. Thousand grain weight 41.3 g.
Biological features. Medium-maturing variety, medium height type, plant height is 90 cm, stem medium thickness, strong, resistant to lodging with strong waxy coating on upper internodes. High branching ability, capable of forming more than 700 productive tillers per 1 m2. Enhanced winter hardiness, which at artificial freezing amounts to 7.5 points. In field conditions tolerant to major diseases.
Agronomic characteristics. High-yielding variety, potential yield 11.0 t/ha. In the 2008 institute variety trial, yield was 9.55 t/ha. In the "Elite" experimental farm of Kharkiv region in 2012, yield was 7.3 t/ha. Average yield in 2011 on five forest-steppe DSS of Ukraine was 7.7 t/ha, maximum was 8.38 t/ha at Krasnogvardeyskaya DSS in Steppe and 9.15 t/ha in Forest-steppe.
Quality meets requirements for strong wheat. Protein content 120-14.0%, gluten — 26-28%, flour strength — 464 o.a., loaf volume from 100 g of flour 700 ml.
Agronomic requirements. Universal type variety, not demanding on cultivation conditions. Suitable for cultivation after various preceding crops, best are black fallow, occupied fallow, perennial grasses, corn for silage by conventional and intensive technologies, maximum yield is achieved with intensive technology and optimal doses of mineral fertilizers. Protection of plants from diseases and pests is required. Seeds before sowing must be treated with fungicide in mixture with insecticide. Sowing dates are standard for the region. Seed sowing rate is 4.5 million germinable seeds per 1 ha after fallow and 5.0 million for non-fallow predecessors.
