Protector Odesa is an autumn wheat variety adapted to Ukrainian soils and climatic conditions, ensuring high yield and resistance. The vegetation period is approximately 280-287 days; the variety is characterized by early maturity, slightly later than the Antonovka variety. The grain is red, elongated, with high protein content (12.5–13.8%) and gluten content (25.3–33%), meeting high quality standards for cereal crops. The variety exhibits vigorous growth and development in the fall, capable of rapid and repeated hardening, enhancing its resistance to late sowing.
This low-growing wheat variety demonstrates high resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew, rust, septoria, pyrenophora, and downy mildew. Due to these qualities and its ability to thrive on poor soils, Protector Odesa is recommended for cultivation in the steppe, forest-steppe, and Polissia zones of Ukraine. The variety is not prone to lodging, which is especially important for the steppe zone, and shows stable yields within the range of 11.0–12.5 t/ha.
