Description BUDAGOVSKY PARADIZKA
Budagovsky Paradizka (PB-9) – a dwarf rootstock obtained by crossing M-8 with the 'Red Standard' variety. It is distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to fruit canker, rot, scab, and powdery mildew. The leaves are dark red and glossy; during the summer, the color changes from dark green with a slight brownish tint to red-maroon in autumn, giving the tree a decorative appearance even after leaf fall.

Trees on PB-9 grow moderately: height usually does not exceed 2.5 m, crown is compact and spreading. The growth force of grafted plants is at the level of M-9 (dwarf), so the rootstock is often used as an interstock for growing dwarf apple trees. Cuttings rooting is weak, and propagation in the mother block is difficult – support or trellis is required to support growth and prevent falling.

Budagovsky Paradizka yields edible fruits of dark red color with thick skin and juicy reddish-white flesh. Fruits have a moderately sweet-and-sour taste, are aromatic, and retain shape during storage. Due to its winter hardiness and decorative qualities, the rootstock is widely used as an interstock and in decorative gardens, where its compactness and vivid leaf coloration are valued.
