Sunflower NS H 187 is a high-yielding, simple hybrid developed by the Serbian breeding company NS SEME from the Institute of Field Crop Research in Novi Sad. It belongs to the mid-early maturing varieties with a vegetative period ranging from 105 to 114 days, enabling its effective use in various climatic conditions, including drought-prone areas. Plants reach a height of 160 to 185 cm, have a flat head with a diameter up to 23 cm, and large black seeds with a thousand-seed weight exceeding 63 g. The potential yield of the hybrid exceeds 5.2 tons per hectare, and the oil content of the seeds is 51-52%, making it profitable for producing extra and standard oil fractions. Hybrid NS H 187 exhibits high resistance to major diseases and stress factors. It is genetically resistant to five strains of downy mildew (A, B, C, D, E), and shows high tolerance to rust, white and gray mold, fomoz, fomopsis, powdery mildew, septoria, and anthracnose. The resistance level to lodging, lodging, and drought is rated 8-9 points, ensuring stable yields even under adverse weather conditions. Moreover, the hybrid demonstrates good cold tolerance, expanding its cultivation possibilities in regions with sharp temperature fluctuations. To achieve optimal growth and maximize yield, specific agronomic practices are recommended. In particular, applying microelements, potassium and sodium humates after herbicide treatment helps reduce stress effects on plants. Using mono-copper boron at a rate of 1-1.5 liters per hectare during the six-leaf stage until flowering improves the physiological condition of the sunflower. The recommended planting density before harvest is 55,000-60,000 plants per hectare, and in dry conditions — 45,000-50,000 plants per hectare, allowing optimal resource use and improved crop quality.
