Petunia STARS OF BIG KROPOTOV

A product of advanced biological research

The petunia variety "Zvezdy Bolshogo Kropotova" (Stars of Bolshoy Kropotov) stands as a notable achievement by researchers at the N.K. Koltzov Institute of Developmental Biology (RAS). This variety bridges the gap between fundamental laboratory research and practical ornamental horticulture. Developed by Anna Shirokova, Gulnara Kadorkina, and their team, this petunia reflects a rigorous scientific approach to creating cultivars that perform reliably while maintaining aesthetic distinctiveness.

Visual Profile and Plant Dimensions

The defining feature of this variety is its deep blue floral pigmentation, characterized by a unique dappled or striped pattern that evokes the imagery of a starry night. With a flower diameter of 5–7 cm and a plant height of 25–35 cm, the variety maintains a neat, compact habit. This makes it a predictable and manageable choice for both professional landscapers and home gardeners looking for stability in their planting schemes.

Landscape Applications

The compact genetics of this variety allow for versatility in garden design:

• Flower beds and borders: The plant's dense growth structure creates uniform, long-lasting displays that do not lose their shape throughout the season.
• Container gardening: Perfectly suited for hanging baskets and decorative planters, where the intricate color patterns are best appreciated at close range.

Opting for this variety provides gardeners with a tested, high-performance plant that showcases the quality of contemporary regional breeding while offering a fresh aesthetic for modern landscape projects.
