Azurit

The Azurit flax oilseed variety (Linum usitatissimum L. var. intermedia Vav et Ell.) is a mid-ripening plant with a stem height ranging from 59 to 64 cm and a vegetative period of approximately 90-92 days. Flowering begins at an average time; the sepals have weak or absent spotting, and the corolla in the bud stage is blue-violet, turning blue upon full development. The pistil is white at the base, and the capsule is of medium size with fringed false partitions. The seeds are brown, with a 1000-seed mass varying from 6.5 to 7.3 grams depending on the growing region. Azurit is characterized by high oil content, ranging from 44.3% to 52%, depending on regional conditions. Fat content in the seeds reaches 50.5%, with a significant portion comprising beneficial fatty acids: linoleic acid accounts for about 15.7%, linolenic acid for 50.8%, and oleic acid for 21.5%. The variety is resistant to Fusarium wilt and exhibits high resistance to lodging and shattering, rated at 4.4-5.0 points, ensuring crop preservation and seed quality. Azurit is included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation and recommended for cultivation in the Volga-Vyatsk and Western Siberian regions. Yield varies by region: in the Volga-Vyatsk region, the average yield is about 8.2 centners per hectare, while in the Western Siberian region, it reaches up to 18.4 centners per hectare, with maximum indicators reaching 21.2 centners per hectare. Thanks to its characteristics and resistance, Azurit is a promising choice for producing high-quality oilseed flax with a high content of beneficial fatty acids.
