The ES Marakesh F1 watermelon is a late-maturing hybrid of the Crimson Sweet type, developed by Ergon Seeds from the Netherlands. The vegetative period ranges from 75 to 85 days after transplanting seedlings. The plant exhibits high stress tolerance, the ability to form fruit set at air temperatures up to 15℃, and resistance to fungal diseases such as fusarium and anthracnose. A strong root system ensures reliable nutrition, enabling the plant to withstand drought and adverse weather conditions. The bushes develop dense, large leaves that effectively protect the fruit from sunburn.
The fruits of the ES Marakesh watermelon have an oval shape and characteristic striped coloring with dark green rind and lighter stripes. The average fruit weight ranges from 8 to 13 kg, with some specimens reaching up to 17 kg. The flesh is characterized by an intense red color, dense and crisp texture without fibers, and high sugar content — from 11 to 13% — which gives the watermelon an excellent sweet flavor. Due to these qualities, the fruits are suitable for both fresh market sales and processing, including pickling, canning, and juice production.
The ES Marakesh F1 hybrid is known for its high yield: under favorable conditions, a single plant can produce up to four fruits. It adapts well to various climatic zones and retains its fresh market appearance for a long time — up to one month after harvest. Due to its reliability and superior taste, this watermelon is highly sought after by farmers and consumers.
