SY Topman — mid-early maize hybrid with FAO number 250, developed by Syngenta in Ukraine. The ear of this hybrid is medium-sized with an husk longer than the ear itself. The kernels are cream-colored, toothed type, with a warm yellow hue and high starch content. The hybrid features a strong root system, excellent stalk leafing, and uniform ears, ensuring stable and high productivity. Grain yield averages 82.5%, indicating high potential for yield under proper care.
SY Topman exhibits high resistance to diseases, especially to gray leaf spot, as well as lodging. The hybrid shows good stress tolerance, including cold and drought resistance, enabling successful cultivation under various climatic conditions. Rapid early growth contributes to successful plant adaptation and development. Leaves are arranged in an erectoid type, improving photosynthesis and better resource utilization.
The hybrid is recommended for cultivation in the Polissia and Forest-Steppe zones of Ukraine, where it performs well on fertile soils. Optimal plant density at harvest ranges from 60,000 to 90,000 plants per hectare, depending on the region. SY Topman is suitable for both grain and silage use, making it a versatile choice for agricultural producers aiming for high and stable yields.
