Galits'kyi — this is a fodder beet, recommended for cultivation throughout Ukraine. Developed by the Institute of Agronomy and Animal Husbandry of the Western Region of UAAN, this variety is polyploid and high-yielding, created by individual selection from a hybrid population. The plants have medium-sized semi-upright rosettes with elongated-ovate, spatulate green leaf blades. The root crops are oval-cylindrical in shape, with a smooth yellow surface and white flesh, easily harvested from the soil, with high storability — approximately 96-97%.
The variety is characterized by high resistance to beetles and leafy mildew, but is sensitive to soil nutrient supply, especially nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and calcium. The main harvest of root crops forms in August-September, with dry matter content of 13-15%. Galits'kyi is suitable for mechanized harvesting, simplifying the collection process.
This mid-season variety (105-130 days) is highly productive and semi-sucrose, forming juicy root crops with increased dry matter and sugar content. It is resistant to flowering, has excellent storability, transportability, and disease resistance. Galits'kyi is widely used for fodder purposes, particularly in home gardening. Recommended preceding crops for planting — cucumbers, early potatoes, cabbage, into which organic fertilizers were applied.
